ClassCover is proud to announce the continuation of our partnership with the NSW Department of Education. The extension of this contract for up to 7 years will see ClassCover remain the preferred casual teacher resourcing solution for the department’s 2,000+ schools across the state.
The decision to renew ClassCover’s contract with the NSW Department of Education was made earlier this month following a rigorous tender process where the effectiveness of the platform was weighed up against other booking solutions from Australia and around the world.
Speaking about the announcement, ClassCover CEO and Co-Founder, Ben Grozier, touched on the potential the app has to help with the issues faced by schools across NSW.
“We are thrilled to be chosen as the Casual Teacher Resourcing Solution for NSW Department of Education schools for up to 7 years and look forward to saving our educators more time and helping to alleviate the pressures of the current teacher supply challenges being experienced across the state and country.”
ClassCover has a long history in NSW, launching in Sydney’s Northern Beaches in 2011 and entering use with the first NSW public school soon after in 2012. After a period of strong growth across the state, 2018 saw the platform first contracted as the preferred casual booking platform for all Department of Education schools. In that time, many new features have been added to the platform to meet the needs of public schools across NSW.
A direct integration with the department helps ensure teacher compliance, with a green tick showing next to a teacher’s name in ClassCover to indicate their approval to teach, approved Working with Children Check and completion of all mandatory training.
The pandemic, too, saw ClassCover pivot to ensure NSW Department of Education schools could react to the changing needs of the time.
In a time of increased demand across NSW, ClassCover unlocked additional functionality to enable the Department of Education to book retired educators to fill in in the classroom. The “COVID taskforce” resulted in 3,665 booked days during terms 1 and 2 of this year, and the temporary employment of 503 retired teachers. This ultimately prevented thousands of students going without a teacher.
“ClassCover has proudly served the NSW Department of Education for 5 years since 2018, including providing support across multiple projects during the height of the Covid pandemic and school shutdowns.”
The contract announcement comes off the back of a big year for ClassCover, including a successful second round of our partnership with The Smith Family’s Catch-Up Learning Program, and the acquisition of relief teacher booking platform, Relief Ruler.
