Improved filtering for cloned checkout sessions

We’ve improved our bot protection to suppress extra checkout events created by Shopify checkout session cloning, which can inflate checkout metrics and impact conversion reporting.

Support for Segment regional endpoints

Littledata now supports both the US and EU Segment ingestion endpoints.

If you’re using a European Segment workspace, you can choose the EU regional endpoint in your

Segment destination settings to send data directly from Littledata to Segment within the EU.

This helps ensure your data stays in the correct region and aligns with Segment’s setup and compliance requirements.

The setting is found under the Tracking customisation tab of your Segment's connection settings.

We've added the possibility of further enhancing your customisation capabilities using Littledata.

The 2 new settings are available under the Data customisation tab.

Exclude zero-value orders

By turning on this setting, we will exclude orders with a 0 value from the destination.

Order tags exclusion list

You can exclude orders from a specific destination based on their Shopify order tags.

We’ve rebranded Custom Web Pixels as the Advanced Tracking Script to better reflect its expanded capabilities in bridging data tracking gaps.

What's new?

Improved headless Shopify tracking 🎯

Running a headless Shopify store?
We’ve launched a new tracking solution built to work seamlessly with your storefront setup.

  • Works with: Hydrogen, custom storefronts (Next.js, Remix, Gatsby), mobile apps, Buy SDK.
  • Server-side tracking across Google Analytics 4, Meta Ads, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, and Segment.
  • Tracks key checkout events like purchase, add_payment_info, and begin_checkout.

Our previous legacy headless SDK has been phased out in favour of the new seamless solution.
It will continue to work for current users, but we recommend upgrading for the best performance and future support.

What else can you do with the advanced tracking script?

Accelerated checkout support 🏃

Captures events from fast-checkout options like Shop Pay.

New fallback mechanism 🛰️

If attribution is not appended in the storefront, this fail-safe restores attribution during checkout.

Segment

Accurate tracking of Segment sessions

For teams using Segment, we’ve made it easier to track sessions more accurately, especially when exporting data to a warehouse.

Unlike GA4, Segment doesn’t natively include a session_start signal. That’s why we’ve introduced a Session start event to help you identify when a session truly begins.

Why this matters?

Segment’s lack of a clearly defined session concept has made it difficult to track session-level behavior and aggregate metrics like average session length or sessions per user.

What’s new?

We now trigger a Session start event:

  • On the first pageview within a new browser session.
  • Only once per session, even if the user opens multiple tabs.
  • A new session is defined by the user closing and reopening their browser.

This allows for cleaner reporting, improved behavioral analytics, and more accurate session attribution in your downstream tools.

Granular consent setting

You now have more control over how customer consent is managed across your tracking setup.

Consent mode is now configurable per connection via the Tracking Customisation tab. This means you can manage different consent settings for each of your data destinations.
Whether it’s Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, or Segment!

What’s changed:

  • Consent mode is enabled at the connection level, giving you granular control.
  • When enabled, tracking will depend on each user’s consent and region, ensuring GDPR compliance and privacy-first data collection.
  • By default, Littledata integrates with Shopify’s Customer Privacy API to delay tracking until consent is given.

We've added support for 3 new events in our Meta Ads integration.

  • 🆕 New Customer Purchase – Littledata: Tracks first-time purchases.
  • 🔁 Returning Customer Purchase – Littledata: Tracks repeat purchases.
  • 📦 First Recurring Purchase – Littledata: Tracks the first order of a subscription.

If you already have our Meta Ads connection, these events are activated automatically; you can toggle them off in your Events settings.

In December 2024 we added support for 2 new conversions inside Google Ads

  • New Customer Purchase - Littledata; secondary conversion, where only your first-time customers' conversions will be sent to.
  • Returning Purchase - Littledata; Secondary conversion, where only your returning customers' conversions will be sent to.

During setup, you can opt-in to track the conversions mentioned above.
