Introducing a new method to quickly and easily connect your Xero entities in-bulk to Cimplico Workpapers!

Using a single flow you can create new entities from Xero or map existing entities (brought in manually or in-bulk via FYI) to Xero.

While the product team has been hard at work improving the new Calculation Worksheets, we're always listening to your feedback and improving Cimplico Workpapers. Here’s what’s new in the Procedures screen:

1️⃣ Notes

By popular demand, you can now add notes to procedures! Unlike internal comments, notes don’t have statuses or replies—perfect for adding extra details. Click on a procedure to add your note, and look for the document icon next to the role badge to see which procedures have notes.

You can also see a summary of the notes on procedures by clicking the notes icon in the top-right.

Expect to see notes popping up in more places soon! 👀

2️⃣ UI Improvements

We’ve revamped the design for easier scanning and better UX. Now, Procedures feature quick filter tabs, an updated filter component, and a side panel with procedure details and note summaries!

3️⃣ Bulk Actions

Marking multiple procedures as not applicable for the same reason just got easier. Hover over a procedure, select the checkbox, and you can mark several as applicable or not applicable at once!

🔁 Trial Balance Screen Update

Starting off with one of our biggest updates!

1️⃣ Tabs: Quickly filter status of the trial balance via the tabs!

2️⃣ Upgraded Filter, Search, Sort: We've massively improved the filter function, allowing you to filter, search and sort your trial balance easier than ever!

3️⃣ Outstanding checklist items: See outstanding checklist items from the trial balance. Click on an outstanding item to be taken directly to it!

🔁 Worksheet + Other Schedule Screen Update

The Worksheet screen has also been refreshed, with an upgraded header, which includes breadcrumbs for easy navigation. Some of the other changes include:

1️⃣ Tabs: See the number of items for each tab. For worksheets with checklist items see the number of remaining checklist items right from the tab!

2️⃣ New internal comment/client query design: We've given the internal comment & client query side panel an upgraded look, allowing you to quickly resolve items and see replies!

3️⃣ Keyboard shortcuts: Quickly Review a worksheet with Alt (⌥ on Mac) + R! Cycling through worksheets is also a breeze - simply use Alt (⌥ on Mac) + left/right arrow keys to go to the previous/next worksheet!

✉️ Email usage alerts

We'll now notify you as you start approaching your entity usage limits, with notifications at 75%, 90% and 100%. The notification will include a quick link to add more entities.

This should assist in ensuring your staff can continue efficiently preparing workpapers!

👀 Visibility over your active entities

Have you wanted to know which entities are counting towards your billing?🤔

You can now easily identify your active entities via the Entities screen, where you can filter by a billing status of "active"!

I'm beyond excited to show you our new and improved Trial Balance, Worksheet, and Other Schedules!

I've done my best to summarise this huge update in a super short video that you can watch here

Trial Balance View

Breadcrumbs

Starting from top-bottom, the Trial Balance now has interactive breadcrumbs. This is such a cool addition, as you can freely collapse the sidebar and still see exactly what workpaper you're in for which entity! What's more, you can click on the different parts of the breadcrumb to be taken to the group overview, entity overview, or workpaper dashboard in a single click!

Tabs

Now, the big change! We have added tabs that act as quick filters!🎉 This is such a game-changer as it not only allows you to see, for example, all Awaiting Review accounts in a single click, but it also tells you how many accounts are in that status!

⚡️ BONUS FEATURE: You can go directly to the desired status tab from the pie chart on the Workpaper Dashboard!

Upgraded Filter, Search, and Sort

Filters are an integral part of the efficiency within Cimplico Workpapers. Since release, we've received a lot of helpful feedback around areas we could improve the user experience of our filters. I'm pleased to show you our filters v2, which will now show you the filters you have applied without having to click into the filter menu! Moreover, the "pills" that appear as you apply filters can be edited and removed individually!

As filters, search, and sort are frequently used in other places, you'll start seeing the v2 filters rolling out across the app in the coming weeks!

Account Row

Looking at the Trial Balance now, you may notice some changes in the items.

We've moved assigned users closer to the account details, with inline assignment coming soon!

We have also now added checklist items in the Outstanding column, showing you how many remaining checklist items there are to complete per account. Further, these icons are interactive! Clicking the icon will take you to the worksheet with the element already open. E.g. Clicking the checklist icon will open the worksheet with the Checklist tab selected. The same works for internal comments and client queries!

💡 TIP: Clicking the variance figure will swap it between percent and monetary change!

Worksheet and Other Schedule

Header

The header for Worksheets and Other Schedules have been updated. Similar to the Trial Balance, breadcrumbs can now be seen above the worksheet title.

Assigned users are now also next to the worksheet details, similar to where they now appear on the Trial Balance.

The arrows to cycle between worksheets have now moved next to the Review button. These arrows also come with hotkeys! Use ⌥ + Left/Right Arrow if you're on Mac, or Alt + Left/Right Arrow if you're on Windows to cycle to previous and next accounts!

Additionally, Exclude has now moved into a menu next to the Review button in an effort to reduce accidental exclusions.

💡 TIP: You can always Exclude in bulk from the Trial Balance!

Below the Review button, you will now find the Internal Comments and Client Queries buttons. Click these to show the Comments/Queries sidebar.

Updated Comments/Queries Sidebar

We've given the Comments/Queries sidebar a bit of an upgrade! We've added our quick filter tabs so you can easily see comments/queries of different status, and how many are in each.

We've optimised the comment/query card, with a single click to Resolve a comment/query, replies shown in-place rather than having to click in to a comment/query, and Edit/Delete actions on replies accessible in a single click.

Updated Tabs

Finally, we have aligned the tabs on a worksheet with the new tabs seen on the Trial Balance and Comments/Queries Sidebar. You can now see the number of items within a tab. In the case of things like the Checklist tab, we will show you the completion status of these items also.

Phew, that was a lot! There's a few other upgrades that have happened under-the-hood that allow us to do some pretty awesome things going forward, so stay tuned for more soon!

🛠️ Modified Certification Functionality

One of the main value propositions of Cimplico Workpapers is its superior control & governance over traditional excel-based workpaper solutions.

Our Certification process is one of the flagship control mechanisms. Feedback from users said it could be better - and we agree!

We've now updated the certification functionality to allow higher roles to certify on behalf of lower roles!

e.g. A Reviewer does not have to wait for a Preparer to certify!

⚖️ Cash or Accrual Trial Balance

Wanting to produce workpapers on a Cash basis rather than Accrual? Easy!

When creating a workpaper, simply toggle to Cash or Accrual, or update this in the workpaper settings at any time!

We've also added the accounting basis as a narration from the Trial Balance screen.

😮 Disable Trial Balance for Non-Compliance Jobs

Have you been wanting to do ITR or other non-compliance jobs that don't require a trial balance? No sweat now!

When creating a workpaper, you can now toggle the trial balance off to skip the requirement to provide one!

A manual trial balance can be uploaded at any time after creation if you would like.
