You no longer have to stash job details in the description area. Custom fields are live in open beta, and they work in the web app and through the MCP. Here's how they work.
Custom Fields Give Project Details a Home of Their Own
Custom fields let you create reusable fields on projects for the details you track about a job, like job type, claim #, status, or project value. If you track business and trade-specific details about a job in your ERP, CRM, or similar tools, the description area was the only good place to put that info in CompanyCam until now. Now it gets a dedicated place on the project. Field types include text, number, yes/no, date, date and time, dropdown, URL, and currency. The API and MCP can also read and update custom field values on a project, so this should make moving important data around less chaotic.
Custom fields are live in open beta for all customers. Admins and managers can create and manage fields on web. Everyone can see field values on a project, and standard users and above can fill them in. Since it's a beta, a few things aren't in yet: mobile views, customer-level fields, filtering and searchability, and visibility and role rules.
