Coming soon: Hackers' Clash

Shared by jack • June 08, 2023

Get ready. Season II is about to start (with some improvements). When the seasonal format was announced, we refreshed our ranking system to crank up the competitive element of HTB and engage all platform members with rewards and prizes for different Tiers.

This is, of course, a work in progress. Still, we are excited to share that our team is already incorporating community feedback to improve the HTB Seasons experience.

Start Date: June 17th

Season II - Hackers’ Clash will officially kick off on June 17th and run until September 9th, 2023, to include 13 Machines released each Saturday at 19:00 UTC. As mentioned, Points and Tiers from the previous season will reset, and everyone will start at zero.

Improvements

  • Achievement Badges: Every player will now be awarded HTB Seasons badges. By scrolling down to Seasonal Badges, you can find our badges directly on your user profile in the “Badges” section.
  • Seasonal Time: Based on lots of feedback from the community, we have decided to keep one (1) week to complete a seasonal Machine. This looks like a sweet spot for everyone, and most of our platform members voted for this option.
  • Prize adjustment: We have slightly changed the rewards for each Tier and the overall leaderboard. Prizes have been adjusted to ensure they are coherent with the rank progression, and every higher rank will be rewarded with a higher monetary value.

Official Academy Tutoring

jack avatar
Shared by jack • December 08, 2022

HTB Academy is enhancing its guided learning approach through one-to-one tutoring on module exercises using accounts connected to the official Hack The Box Discord server.

  • If a student submits the wrong answer three (3) times, a pop-up appears asking to link the HTB Academy account to the Discord account.
  • After the student connects the accounts, a “Request Help” button appears. By clicking this, the student will send a request to a dedicated Discord channel where training coordinators and the HTB Discord Team will guide them towards the correct solution.
  • Only when the student finds the correct solution, our staff will mark the request as resolved.

The initial roll-out will be available to HTB Academy Silver Annual subscribers exclusively.

We want to make sure we can perfectly handle all the requests and offer top-notch and timely tutoring to every student.

Introducing Self-Serve Dedicated Labs

jack avatar
Shared by jack • November 25, 2022

If you’re a user of the main Hack The Box (HTB) app, you can now use the self-served Dedicated Labs option to experience the benefits of our Business platform without relying on the HTB team to manually set up/create an organization for you.

Dedicated Labs is a product on the Business platform that gives you:

  • The ability to invite 5-10 team members to a shared Business account
  • Access to a Lab that you can populate with machines and challenges of your choice
  • Access to Reporting for your whole team (including metrics like skill progression, activity, timeline, and flag owns)

You can purchase the self-serve option for Dedicated Labs directly from the HTB website.

How is Hack The Box for Business different from the main Hack The Box app?

By purchasing self-served Dedicated Labs, you get access to the Business platform. HTB Business is tailored to team cybersecurity training. It offers additional tools for user management, custom Lab creation (called Dedicated Lab), and reporting (which is not available in the main HTB app). The main app, on the other hand, helps individual hackers hone their skills.

HTB Business empowers you to be more deliberate about your team’s skills development by forming teams and owning machines. You can add your entire team and simply choose which members to assign to a Dedicated Lab for training.

What are Dedicated Labs?

Dedicated Labs make it easy to build a group of machines and challenges of your choice. They offer access to all the machines and challenges available in the main platform, along with filters to pinpoint the exact exploits and technologies you want your team to focus on. Additionally, a Dedicated Lab offers a specific set of seats for users to start training on selected machines. These seats can be reassigned to different employees as each one progresses their skills in owning machines and challenges.

Finally, with your team trained on CVEs of interest, HTB Business/Dedicated Labs offers reporting tools to monitor progress. You and your team can analyze skills development for a subset of team members (or the whole team) via machines and challenges.
