Smoother task submissions for learners

iQualify avatar
Shared by iQualify • August 25, 2025

In response to feedback, we’ve made improvements to the file upload task type to make submitting files smoother and less stressful for your learners.

We heard that sometimes learners would successfully upload their files but then fail to submit them, which could lead to missed deadlines and unnecessary stress, particularly during assessment periods.

Changes include UI and wording updates that make the process clearer, plus a new on-screen warning if a file is uploaded but not yet submitted.

These improvements mean better learner experiences, fewer missed deadlines and less stress around important tasks.

We’ve made improvements to the file upload task type to make submitting assessments smoother and less stressful for ākonga.

We heard that sometimes ākonga would upload their assessment files but then not complete submission, which could lead to missed deadlines, unnecessary stress during assessment periods, and extra support queries for your team.

Changes include UI and wording updates that make the process clearer, plus a new on-screen warning if a file is uploaded but not yet submitted.

These improvements mean better experiences for ākonga, fewer missed deadlines, reduced support queries, and less stress around important assessment tasks.

Partial marks for automarked tasks

iQualify avatar
Shared by iQualify • July 08, 2025

We’ve got more choice in how learners can be scored in automarked tasks and quizzes! Now your authors can decide if learners can get partial marks on a task and whether points are deducted for incorrect responses.

Let’s take a look at an example where we’ve set the Points for the task to 1.

Now authors can choose whether learners:

  • Need to get the entire question right to get the points for the task (e.g. 0/1 in example above).
  • Get a proportion of the total points for the task (e.g. 0.5/1 for correctly placing 50% of the responses) .
  • Get point(s) for each correct response (e.g. 2/4 for 2 correctly placed responses).
  • Have point(s) deducted for incorrect responses.

Check out How to set the Scoring type and Penalty points for automarked tasks to see more detail on the difference between these options.

Grant assessment extensions via API

Lorcan avatar
Shared by Lorcan • June 18, 2025

Hi there,

Your organisation can now use our API to grant learners assessment extensions.

Using the API to grant these extensions ensures that the new due dates are then automatically reflected on iQualify reducing confusion about due dates for your learners and their facilitators/coaches.

You can learn more about this feature here and can find our API specific documentation here.
