Managing Talk messages

We’ve released some work to help you manage your talk messages!

  • See at a glance messages that are still to read, filter to only see your unread messages in public channels.
  • Messages in private channels, filter by and see how many unanswered messages there are awaiting replies.
  • Come back to them later, mark as unread to come back to a message later.
  • Need to start fresh, mark all your messages as read in one go.
  • Clarity for what is unread, likes on a message will no longer trigger the unread indicator (green dot).

And just a quick note on Private Talk channels and how the unanswered filter and counter now work. In the past the counter for this filter, only showed the unread messages on your current view, now the counter shows all unanswered messages, for this reason (and as a one off) all unanswered private talk messages older than a year will no longer be marked as unanswered.

Enhancement to assessment opening conditions

Shared by Lorcan • July 03, 2026

We’ve improved how assessment opening conditions behave when authors make changes.

When authors update opening conditions and republish, assessments open automatically for learners who now meet the criteria the next time they access the course.

From the Class console, facilitators and coaches can also unlock assessments for individual learners, making it easier to step in when support is needed.

Learn more about what happens when you make changes to opening conditions, or how to view and manage them from the Class console.

Introducing assessment opening conditions

iQualify avatar
Shared by iQualify • May 04, 2026

What's new

Authors now have more control over when learners can access assessed tasks and quizzes, supporting clearer sequencing and helping ensure learners are prepared.

Alongside opening dates, you can set score-based conditions so learners unlock assessments only after achieving a minimum score on an earlier task or quiz.

First release

For this first release, if you make changes to opening conditions and republish, those changes will flow to class activations.

Please note that in some cases, assessments may remain or become locked for certain learners. We recommend using sandpit courses to explore and test this behaviour.

Coming soon

In our second release, enhancements will include automatically opening assessments for learners who meet updated conditions on republish, as well as enabling facilitators and coaches to unlock individual learners’ assessments directly from the Class console.

Learn more about assessment opening conditions and how they can help structure your course, or reach out if you’d like help getting started.

Titles are back
We heard your feedback — titles are a key part of Talk channels. You can now add a title to Talk posts, and we’ve added previous titles back in.
