From 1 July 2026, real estate agents in Australia become regulated reporting entities under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act). As designated service providers, agents are now legally required to complete Initial Customer Due Diligence (CDD) on vendors and purchasers before commencing any designated service — including ordering property marketing.
Non-compliance isn't optional. It carries significant regulatory penalties, and the obligation sits with every agency acting on behalf of a vendor or purchaser. We recognised early that this couldn't be left to manual processes or individual memory — it needed to be enforced at the platform level.
Realhub now includes AML Compliance Enforcement — a platform-level gating mechanism that prevents two critical campaign actions from being taken until vendor AML due diligence is confirmed complete:
Until the vendor's AML status is confirmed (either via your connected CRM or manually by an Agency Administrator), these actions are locked with clear messaging explaining why and what to do next.
When enforcement is active and AML status is incomplete, users will see the Approve Quote and Order New Item buttons disabled with a clear explanation — either that AML compliance hasn't been confirmed, or that the status hasn't been received from the CRM yet. The messaging guides users to the appropriate next step (check with their compliance officer or ensure CRM linkage).
Finance reviewers in the 2-step quote approval workflow follow the same rules — they can still view and review quotes, but cannot approve until AML status is confirmed.
AML Compliance Enforcement is available now for brands to enable ahead of the 1 July 2026 regulatory deadline. Contact your Brand Administrator to switch it on, or reach out to our team if you'd like a walkthrough.
