Hi there,

February introduces several updates across SKAND, including support for the new Ladybug panoramic format, the ability to upload images and PDFs as imagery, and a new Spreadsheet View for reviewing project data.

This release also includes improvements in the SKAND iOS App, along with visual prompting capabilities in SKAND AI.

New Features

Web App

Support for New Ladybug Panoramic Format

SKAND now supports the latest panoramic format from Ladybug cameras. This allows users to upload and visualize high resolution panoramic imagery generated from Ladybug capture systems directly in the platform.

Support for JPGs, PNGs, and PDFs as Ortho Imagery

Users can now upload standard image formats such as PNG and JPEG, as well as PDF files, as ortho or dynamic ortho imagery layers. PDFs can also be georeferenced, allowing drawings, plans, and other project documentation to align with spatial datasets in the workspace.

Annotation Spreadsheet View

A new spreadsheet style interface allows users to review project data in a structured table format. This makes it easier to inspect attributes, manage records, and work with datasets that contain tabular information.

Learn how to use Annotation Spreadsheet View here.

Annotation Icon Library

The annotation tool now includes an expanded icon library, allowing users to select from a wider set of symbols when marking up scenes.

Dynamic Terrain Layer Conversion Support

Support has been added for dynamic terrain layer conversion, improving compatibility with terrain datasets used in mapping workflows.

SKAND iOS App

Bluetooth Camera Connection

The SKAND iOS App now supports automatic Bluetooth discovery for compatible cameras. The app detects the camera via Bluetooth and connects to the camera Wi-Fi automatically, removing the need for manual network switching during capture.

Auto Reconnection

If the camera connection drops during capture, the app automatically attempts to reconnect. This helps maintain continuity during field operations and reduces interruptions while collecting imagery.

Early Access

Web App

Cross Sectioning Tool

The Cross Sectioning Tool allows users to generate orthographic cross sections across layers.

Capabilities include:

  • Viewing orthographic cross sections of spatial layers
  • Creating 2D measurements directly within the cross section view
  • Exporting screenshots of cross sections with measurements for documentation and analysis

Presentation

Presentation introduces a new way to organize and showcase Views inside Explore. Users can curate specific viewpoints and scenes, making it easier to guide stakeholders through key areas of a project.

SKAND AI

Visual Prompting

Visual prompting allows users to provide an example image or object for SKAND AI to analyze. The system then searches for similar objects across the dataset, making it easier to identify repeated features, assets, or conditions in large visual datasets.

In the lab – what we’re working on

Web App

Image Navigation Widget

A new overlay navigation widget is being developed for directional imagery. This will allow users to move between nearby images more quickly while reviewing visual datasets.

Panorama Walkthrough Improvements

We are working on improvements to the panorama walkthrough experience, focusing on smoother navigation and transitions between panoramas.

Georeference Tool

A dedicated georeferencing tool is under development to simplify the process of aligning imagery and documents with spatial datasets inside SKAND.

SKAND iOS App

Automated Photogrammetry

Automated photogrammetry workflows are currently being explored to streamline image capture and processing from mobile devices.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

Web App

  • Fixed issues in the Georeference Tool and improved the geofence tool interface for easier use.
  • Added updates to the rendering system to make panorama walkthroughs smoother for globe, terrain, and point cloud layers.
  • Fixed an issue where the workspace mode did not stay saved when using a share link.
  • Improved annotation icon visibility on white backgrounds with auto-assigned strokes.
  • Prevented multiple presses on create and delete actions to reduce accidental changes.
  • Removed the custom icons label in the Custom Icons tab.

That wraps up the February updates. We welcome any feedback, which helps shape the future of the platform and guides the development of upcoming features.
