Hi there,
We’ve rolled out some exciting updates this month to help you work faster and make your projects even easier to manage. From smarter AI tools to new ways to organize your viewer, here’s everything new in SKAND this October.
Saved Views
Users can now save the state of your viewer and its settings, set a custom default view for their project, and even share it with other users.

Explore the Saved Views full guide here.
Executable Annotations
Users can now customize the icons displayed for annotations and define what happens when they left-click them. This gives you more control and flexibility over how you interact with your data.

Explore the Executable Annotations full guide here.
Batch Predictions
Users can now run batch predictions using a pre-trained model on all 2D images in your project. It’s a quick and efficient way to apply your model across large datasets.

Vision-Language Object Detection
Users can now search for images using object names using our natural language. SKAND AI will automatically identify those objects and create bounding boxes for them, ready for your review.

Note: Searches for other object types may not always be accurate, as we’re still improving this feature to recognize a wider range of objects more reliably.
Smart Segmentation
Users can now draw annotations around objects with a single click. Just click the center of the object, and SKAND AI will automatically outline it for you.

Want early access to these features? Email support@skand.io and we’ll get you set up.
Spreadsheet View
We’re building a new way to manage annotations in bulk. Soon, you’ll be able to edit multiple annotations at once, download them as a CSV file, make changes, and reupload the file with all updates automatically reflected.

Improved Login Flow
If users open a specific SKAND page without logging in, the app now redirects them to the login page first. After signing in, they are automatically taken back to the page they were trying to access.
Previously, logging in always redirected users to the project list page.
Enhanced Authentication for Embedding
We fixed the authentication mechanism so the SKAND Web App can now be used seamlessly inside an iframe.
We’re always working to make SKAND better for you. Thanks for your continued support and feedback. Stay tuned for more updates next month!
The SKAND Team
Hi there,
This September, we’ve rolled out updates that put more control in your hands. Whether you’re managing project settings or organizing files. We’re focused on removing friction and giving you smoother ways to work inside SKAND. Let’s dive into what’s landed and what’s next.
Project Settings
You can now edit your project details directly in Explore, including the name, group, location, and description, giving you more control without the back and forth.

We’ve also added the ability to specify vertical and horizontal coordinate systems, which will automatically appear in your coordinate readouts.

Update your projects with ease. Full step-by-step details are available in our documentation here.
Files Tab
You can now manage your project files directly from Explore, so there’s no need to jump into the project details page just to make a change.

Upload new files or link existing ones from Data Management in just a few clicks, all in one place.

Manage your files without the hassle. Learn more in our documentation here.
Executable Annotations
You’ll soon be able to customize the icons associated with an annotation, making it easier to spot and organize key points in your project. We’re also adding actions for left-clicking an annotation, like opening an image or website, which will make annotations much more interactive.
Saved Views
You’ll be able to save your visualization settings in the Viewer, so you can quickly return to the exact setup you need. Saved views can also be shared with stakeholders, keeping everyone aligned without the hassle of resetting configurations manually.
Annotation Spreadsheets
Soon you’ll be able to bulk edit annotations in a spreadsheet view, saving tons of time when working with large datasets. All changes can then be saved back into SKAND, giving you a faster and more efficient way to manage your annotation workflows.
We’ve fixed a delay between recording a capture and seeing it in the Capture List. Your recordings will now appear right away.
We hope these updates make working in SKAND a little simpler every day. If you need help getting started, our documentation’s got you covered or just reach out to our team for a quick walkthrough.

Hi there,
G’day from the SKAND team!
We’ve been busy shipping new features and fine-tuning the experience across the SKAND platform. From smarter 3D tools to mobile enhancements, there’s plenty to explore. Here’s what’s new, what’s in early access, and what’s coming soon.
Smarter Image Sorting: Images now automatically sort based on relevance to a double-clicked 3D point – no need to fiddle with sort mode options.

Thumbnail Projections: Clicked points are now projected onto thumbnail images for easy visual comparison.
Camera Widget Update: The camera widget icon has been redesigned to be more subtle and less intrusive.

Expanded Support: We now support Pegasus directional images, Ladybug 360s, and PLY file point clouds.
Pegasus Directional Images

PLY Point Clouds

Ladybug 360s

Panorama Preview Viewer: We've added a panorama preview tool for annotation image attachments.

We’re building fast and always keen to hear your thoughts. Catch you in the next update,
— The SKAND Team
Hi there,
March was a busy month for the SKAND product team—and we’re excited to share some major updates, new capabilities, and performance enhancements now live in the platform. From deeper support for new hardware to ongoing improvements in layer management and data handling, let’s take a look at what’s new and what’s coming soon.
We’ve expanded our support for industry-standard scanning hardware. SKAND now natively supports panorama extraction from Riegl VZ-600i E57 files, making it easier for teams using Riegl LiDAR to view and work with panoramic imagery inside the platform. This unlocks smoother integration across your reality capture workflows and lets you continue working in SKAND without extra tooling or conversion steps.

SKAND now supports both panoramas and point clouds from XGrids, enabling full compatibility with this increasingly popular drone mapping and capture format. Whether you're importing imagery for inspection or working with dense cloud data, this update ensures your XGrids datasets are seamlessly visualized and organized in Skand.

Want to test what’s next before it goes live? These features are currently in early access—we’d love your feedback.
We’re launching a native iOS app that connects directly to Insta360 cameras. Capture 360° images and upload them to SKAND straight from the field—no laptop required. Ideal for simplifying field documentation and speeding up your workflows.

We’ve completely rethought how images are sorted when you click on a point in the 3D viewer. Instead of toggling between multiple sort modes, SKAND now uses a new algorithm that prioritizes images based on camera position, angle, and distance to the clicked location. A marker appears both in the 3D scene and on the thumbnails, and the most relevant image is automatically shown in the overlay—accurately aligned with the mesh underneath. You can even adjust opacity to compare more easily. All previous sort modes will be deprecated in favor of this streamlined, intelligent system.
Want early access? Email kevin@skand.io to get set up.
A lot of exciting things are brewing behind the scenes. Here’s a preview of what’s coming soon:
We’re redesigning the entire layer creation experience from the ground up—making it easier, faster, and more intuitive to create, organize, and manage layers across your projects. Expect a streamlined UI, improved default settings, and more guidance for first-time users.
We’re bringing in tools for cutting and measuring your data in 3D. With sectioning and volumetrics, you’ll be able to slice through complex datasets and calculate fill/cut volumes right inside the viewer. This is especially useful for construction progress tracking, excavation monitoring, and civil engineering inspections.
Thanks to your reports and feedback, we’ve rolled out a number of fixes and polish updates this month:
Every update we ship is shaped by your feedback—from bug reports to feature suggestions to wishlist items. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
Looking ahead, we’re laying the groundwork for even bigger features, including AI-powered workflows, BIM integration, and more ways to automate and optimize your 3D data reviews.
Have feedback or want early access to what’s coming next? We’d love to hear from you.
Until next month,
— The SKAND Team
