Gender Identity Field Introduced for Comprehensive Patient Profiles

wawa now supports a dedicated Gender Identity field on patient profiles!

Adding Patient Gender

• Gender identity and biological sex can each be recorded independently from within the patient profile, giving clinicians the flexibility to capture one or both fields as clinically appropriate

Gender Identity Mismatch Indicator for Patient Profiles

• Capture clinically significant data - patients who have undergone a gender transition may have a history of gender-affirming treatments, such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT), that can directly influence fertility treatment protocols
• A blue indicator is displayed in the patient header whenever a gender identity is recorded
• Hovering over the indicator reveals contextual details: if the gender identity differs from the recorded sex, the tooltip explicitly notes the discrepancy; if only a gender identity has been recorded without a corresponding sex, it flags that the two may differ
