🛒 Buyer News: On-behalf-of orders with Sellar Credit

Neil avatar
Shared by Neil • July 10, 2025

Suppliers can now create orders on your behalf using Sellar Credit (SC) as the payment method. This gives both you and your suppliers more flexibility and makes ordering even easier.

How it works

When a supplier creates an order for you and selects SC as the payment method, you’ll be asked to confirm it by adding it to your SC tab. The order won’t be processed until you’ve approved it.

What to expect

Once a supplier has submitted the request:

1. You’ll be notified in two ways:

  • Email alert
  • In-app alert under a new tab in your Orders list called "Action Required"

2. Review and confirm the order

  • Open the order from your Action Required list
  • Click the “Add to tab” button to confirm and pay through Hokodo. Order is then moved into processing.

Why this is useful

  • You stay in control - orders aren't processed until you confirm them
  • You get a clearer view of any orders needing your attention, including: New SC requests from suppliers Failed SC or Stripe payments

💬 What happens if I ignore the request?

The order won’t be processed until you confirm it. You’ll continue to see it in your Action Required tab and get reminders.

🚚 Supplier News: Create orders on behalf of buyers using Sellar Credit

Neil avatar
Shared by Neil • July 10, 2025

You can now create on-behalf-of orders for your customers with Sellar Credit (SC) as the payment method.

How it works

Supplier side:

  • Create the order as usual.
  • Before confirming, choose the payment method (select Sellar Credit).
  • Once SC is selected, a request is sent to the buyer to Add to tab. Once they have confirmed and paid you can continue to process the order as usual.
  • Alternatively, you can send a custom SC payment link - the buyer must log-in and add the order to their tab before you can fulfil it.

You can also preview the payment link before sending it.

Buyer side:

  • Buyers receive a notification via email and a new 'Action Required' tab in their orders list.
  • The new tab also captures failed SC and Stripe payments, helping buyers spot and fix payment issues faster.

💡 This feature gives you more control and flexibility - whether you're helping busy SC buyers place an order.

To set a dedicated collection address, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Head to Business Details > Edit

2. Below your ‘Business Address’, toggle off ‘My collection address is the same as my business address’ to reveal the address fields for your collection address.

3. Update these fields and scroll down to select ‘save’.

4. Head to Storefront → Preview to confirm the city and region underneath your trading/brand name remains unchanged.

Now whenever you book in a collection with UPS, your courier collection address will be used.

Introducing the Sellar Credit tab

Sellar is the easiest way for people in the trade to order direct from the best range of craft drinks brands. When you order on Sellar, you’re dealing directly with suppliers — which means you get the exact same prices you’d expect by calling or emailing your rep.

But even with the best prices, managing cashflow is still one of the toughest parts of running a venue. Paying upfront can hold you back from investing in products you’re confident will sell.

That’s why in March 2025, we launched Sellar Credit: giving venues access to up to 60-day credit terms with over 220 suppliers — all with zero fees and one consolidated monthly invoice.

Now, we’re making it even easier to stay in control of your finances with the launch of the Sellar Credit tab, now live in the web app.

Why Sellar Credit?

Sellar Credit gives you the flexibility to invest in your inventory and serve the latest and greatest from the brands your customers love — without the upfront cost.

And whilst you're benefiting from credit terms, your suppliers are too. They get paid upfront on dispatch of your order, with payouts processed on a weekly basis. That means they’re never taking on the credit risk, and you can rest easy knowing your trusted suppliers are managing their own cashflow, just as you’re managing yours.

Your new finance hub

The Sellar Credit tab is your central hub for managing credit orders and keeping on top of what’s due and when. From today, you’ll be able to:

  • See your credit balance: Know how much you’ve spent and what’s remaining for future orders.
  • 📦 Track every order: View all your Sellar Credit orders and see which venues are ordering from which suppliers.
  • 📄 View monthly statements: Access detailed breakdowns of each statement, including all invoices and any credit notes.
  • 💸 Pay down early if you wish: Not using direct debit? You have the flexibility to repay as much or as little as you like, any time before the payment due date.

Top tip: We strongly recommend setting up a direct debit. It ensures you make full use of your credit terms and never have to worry about missing a payment. Check out the full guide here.

Designed for the Trade

Whether you’re running a busy bar, a neighbourhood pub, or a growing hospitality group, Sellar Credit is built to work the way you do — giving you more flexibility, more visibility, and more confidence when placing your next order.

Log in to the app to explore the new Sellar Credit tab — and take control of your cashflow without compromising on your drinks list.

Introducing Sellar Credit

Sellar Credit is a new product that is a game-changer for the craft drinks industry.

Before we started Sellar, trade buyers were shifting towards ordering directly from breweries. It meant stronger relationships where buyers got the freshest products at the best prices, and supported breweries by protecting their margin. A win-win, except for the extra admin and paperwork that comes from managing lots of relationships.

Then when covid hit the hospitality industry experienced a cash-crisis, a challenge our industry is still facing today. Trade buyers need the credit and flexibility to invest in their inventory, but suppliers need the cash.

Sellar Credit solves this by creating a world where the supplier gets paid in full on dispatch while offering trade buyers generous end of month + 30 days terms. It's also going to save buyers hassle and paperwork as with one account, trade buyers get instant access to credit across hundreds of suppliers all consolidated into one simple monthly invoice.

Sellar Credit will be the ultimate credit account for the drinks trade.
