September brings major new features designed to make inventory counting faster, easier to organize, and less prone to costly mistakes.
You requested, we listened and built! Your team can now arrange count lists to match the physical order of your shelves, create custom inventory tags, correct or add counts more easily, reorder products when circumstances change, and receive a warning before an unusually high count is saved.
Every hospital organizes inventory differently. Inventory Ally now allows your team to create custom, color-coded tags that reflect your hospital’s specific needs and workflows.
Tags can be used to identify products such as:
Your team can add multiple tags to an inventory item and filter the Counting page by tag.
For example, you could quickly display every refrigerated product, review all items affected by a product recall, or identify products that require special ordering.
Custom tags can be created and managed from the new Inventory Tags section under My Account. Read more here.
Inventory needs can change after an item has been counted. Inventory Ally now gives your team more control over what happens next.
From an inventory item’s action menu, your team can select:
If a previously entered count was incorrect, your team can select Correct Past Counts to update the count record.
This provides a clear way to correct mistakes without leaving inaccurate information in the item’s count history.
Your team can select Add New Count when a product needs to be counted again.
This is useful when stock has changed since the original count, a second count is needed for verification, or your team wants to record an updated quantity outside the regular counting schedule.
Sometimes a product needs to be ordered again even after your hospital’s order has already been finalized.
Your team can select Order Again to return the item to the current order for review. The order quantity can then be confirmed before the order is finalized.
This is helpful when:
Together, these options give your team a clearer way to respond when a count is incorrect, inventory changes, or an additional order is needed. Read more here.
Inventory Ally can now warn your team before an unusually high quantity is saved.
If an entered count appears significantly higher than the product’s typical usage, Inventory Ally will ask the user to confirm the amount.
The warning includes:
This gives the user an opportunity to catch an extra zero, an incorrect unit of measure, or another entry mistake before it affects inventory value and ordering recommendations.
The count will not be saved until the user either corrects the quantity or confirms that it is accurate. Read more here.
Your team can now customize the order in which inventory items appear for each room.
The new Room Sequence tool allows you to arrange a room’s inventory list so it matches the physical order of products on your shelves.
Items can be dragged into place or moved directly to a specific position. Once the room sequence is saved, products will appear in that order during counting.
Instead of moving back and forth between shelves or searching through a list, team members can follow the room from beginning to end.
This helps:
Room Sequence can be managed from your hospital’s inventory settings. Your CSM is available to help with setup. Read more here.
These features give your hospital more control over how inventory is organized, counted, corrected, and reordered—all while helping your team catch costly mistakes before they happen.
If you have questions or want help setting up Room Sequence or custom inventory tags for your hospital, the Inventory Ally team is here to support you.
August’s updates make onboarding easier, improve inventory counting and order review, and provide more reliable connections with your PIMS and vendors.
Some enhancements will be immediately visible to your team, while others improve performance, data accuracy, and reliability behind the scenes.
Inventory Ally will now display a clear error when an invalid file is uploaded during onboarding without preventing your team from continuing the setup process.
We resolved an issue that could incorrectly disable the Next button when adding another hospital to an existing organization.
Hospitals can also continue through onboarding while Inventory Ally updates their recommendations.
Inventory Ally now imports your most recent year of order history first. A second year of order history is automatically added after the initial setup is complete.
This helps hospitals move through onboarding faster while still providing the historical information needed to generate accurate recommendations.
The finalized order page now consistently displays products your hospital already has enough of in the Items With Sufficient Quantity section.
Products in this section are also sorted using their current merged inventory item names, making finalized orders easier to review.
We renamed Open Vetcove Cart to Open Vetcove Shopping List. This more accurately describes where finalized order recommendations appear in Vetcove.
We also corrected an issue that could send products to an Other cart after a Vetcove connection was disconnected and reconnected.
We improved the way Inventory Ally retrieves WDDC pricing, reducing delays when updating prices for large numbers of products.
We corrected an issue that could create duplicate orders from Patterson or Midwest Veterinary Supply.
Patterson connection messages are also clearer, helping identify when a vendor connection requires attention.
We improved nightly Vetcove data updates to help keep order and product information current.
We continued development and early testing of a Royal Canin integration.
This integration is not yet generally available, but this work will help us prepare the experience for broader use.
We improved how Inventory Ally handles PIMS transactions when product information is incomplete or unclear.
These updates help prevent incorrect product names from appearing during mapping and improve mapping accuracy for hospitals with inventories of all sizes.
Your team should see more reliable product matches and fewer items requiring additional review.
We fixed an issue that could prevent hospitals from loading their unmapped PIMS inventory items.
We resolved an issue that temporarily interrupted some PIMS transaction imports.
Any affected transactions were retrieved after the issue was corrected.
Inventory Ally now displays a clear warning when your team attempts to merge an item that is already part of another merged inventory item.
This helps prevent unintended inventory changes and makes it easier to understand why a merge cannot be completed.
The Last Price shown in Counts Reports now reflects the most recent order price instead of the earliest recorded price.
We improved counting-frequency suggestions for products with no recent usage, providing more accurate guidance when reviewing your counting schedule.
We made Mobile Delivery Tracking faster and easier to use. Your team can now:
These changes make it easier to record partial deliveries and confirm products as they arrive.
Recorded waste is now considered when Inventory Ally compares product ordering with usage.
Including waste provides a more complete picture of where inventory is going and can help hospitals identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary loss.
We fixed an issue that could prevent PIMS writeback history from loading.
Filters and sorting selections will now remain in place while your team reviews writeback activity, making it easier to find and investigate specific updates.
Your team can now add any eligible inventory item connected to a supported vendor as an alternative. We also made alternatives easier to review and manage by:
We made improvements to address expired sessions that could cause repeated Error Loading Inventories messages.
We also added better behind-the-scenes tracking to help our team identify and resolve any remaining causes of this message more quickly.
We adjusted spacing in parts of Inventory Ally to prevent page content from overlapping with support and messaging tools.
We corrected several behind-the-scenes issues that could create unnecessary system errors.
These changes improve application monitoring and help the Inventory Ally team identify customer-impacting issues more quickly.
If you have questions or want help understanding how these updates apply to your hospital’s workflow or are interested in learn more about the Insights Tier, the Inventory Ally team is here to support you.
July's updates introduce new ways to track deliveries and product waste, make inventory items easier to find, and improve the reliability of ordering and integration workflows.
Some enhancements will be immediately visible to your team, while others improve performance, data accuracy, and security behind the scenes.
We’re excited to offer an early look at new features being developed as part of Inventory Ally’s upcoming Insights plan:
These mobile features are currently being tested with a small group of ezyVet hospitals. Their feedback will help us refine the experience before expanding availability to more hospitals using ezyVet, Vetspire, and Digitail.
Delivery Tracking helps teams document received products, including:
For participating hospitals, Inventory Ally can write this delivery information back to ezyVet. This reduces duplicate data entry and helps keep information aligned between Inventory Ally and the hospital’s PIMS.
Waste Reporting makes it easier to record discarded, damaged, or expired inventory from a mobile device.
This will give hospitals better visibility into inventory loss and help teams identify opportunities to reduce waste. The ability to write waste information back to the PIMS is also coming soon.
Participating hospitals can now review a history of the information Inventory Ally has sent to their PIMS.
This provides greater visibility into writeback activity and makes it easier to investigate discrepancies.
Inventory Ally can now identify items marked for batch tracking in ezyVet. This helps teams know which products require lot numbers and expiration dates when receiving inventory and will automatically configure this setting in Inventory Ally to match ezyVet batch tracking settings.
Hospitals using IDEXX Cornerstone through the SyncVet integration can now complete the required Cornerstone enrollment form from Inventory Ally.
This simplifies the enrollment process and helps hospitals complete their integration setup more efficiently.
We improved automated product catalog updates for:
These changes help keep vendor product information in Inventory Ally complete and up to date.
Search can now find a merged inventory item using the name of any product included in the merge.
For example, if your team searches for the previous name of an item, Inventory Ally can still direct them to the current merged item.
Your team can now search for inventory items by alias when adding products to a Want List.
This makes items easier to find when your hospital uses familiar shorthand or an internal name instead of the product’s standard name.
Printed count sheets now display item aliases when they are available.
This helps team members identify products more quickly by using the names they already recognize during inventory counts.
Several behind-the-scenes improvements were made to increase platform reliability and prevent delays when processing larger amounts of information.
Inventory item images have been optimized to load faster on desktop and mobile devices.
This makes it quicker to use images to identify products during counting, ordering, receiving, and other inventory workflows.
We improved nightly vendor order imports and price updates to reduce processing delays and timeouts.
More reliable price updates may also help prevent items from appearing in an Other cart when current vendor pricing is not yet available.
Covetrus e-commerce information now loads more reliably, particularly for hospitals with larger order histories.
We corrected issues that could occasionally cause orders from MWI, Midwest, or Covetrus to be skipped during an import.
We also improved the progress information displayed while vendor data is being processed.
This release also includes several targeted fixes:
We strengthened access controls throughout Inventory Ally. These behind-the-scenes improvements help ensure users can access only the appropriate hospital information and support the platform’s long-term security and reliability.
If you have questions about these updates or want to learn more about the upcoming Insights plan, the Inventory Ally team is here to support you.

These updates reflect our continued focus on making Inventory Ally faster, more reliable, and easier to use while expanding integration capabilities across supported PIMS platforms. Some enhancements will be immediately visible to your team, while others improve performance, scalability, and data accuracy behind the scenes.
Inventory Ally now supports PIMS Writeback for Vetspire and Digitail pilot hospitals.
This functionality allows select inventory information maintained in Inventory Ally to be written back to the PIMS, helping reduce duplicate data entry and improve alignment between systems.
Supported writeback workflows include:
Introduced enhanced mapping for write-back rules, reducing setup time and simplifying implementation for beta hospitals.
Inventory Ally can now retrieve all available products from VetSpire and Digitail, providing more complete inventory visibility and improved mapping accuracy for writeback functionality.
Users can now add images directly to inventory items from both desktop and mobile devices.

Inventory images can help teams quickly identify inventory products during counting, ordering, receiving, and inventory maintenance workflows. Click here to learn more.
The Review Order experience now displays vendor names and supplier SKUs for products being ordered.

This provides additional context when reviewing recommendations and helps teams verify they are ordering the correct products.
Improved merge validation warnings help identify situations where merge ratios do not align with recommendations, reducing the risk of inventory conversion errors.
Added pagination to item order history and transaction history within the PIMS Mapping Tool, improving responsiveness when working with larger datasets.
When a product name is unavailable from WDDC, Inventory Ally will now display the supplier product ID rather than a generic “Product Name Not Found” message, making products easier to identify and troubleshoot.
The Mobile Public Want List has been updated to more closely match the desktop experience.
Hospitals will now see improved branding support, including hospital names and logos within the page header for a more consistent experience across devices.
Several improvements were made to increase platform responsiveness and improve processing efficiency.
Optimizations to recommendation processing and inventory update workflows improve the speed of recommendation generation and ordering calculations.
Inventory merge operations now complete approximately two to three times faster than before, improving large-scale inventory cleanup workflows.
Added intelligent caching for frequently accessed Order History and Unit of Measure information, reducing database load and improving application responsiveness.
We continue to invest in the long-term reliability, security, and scalability of the Inventory Ally platform.
Behind the scenes, we completed several platform and infrastructure improvements focused on security, reliability, and long-term scalability to support Inventory Ally’s growing customer base.
If you have questions or want help understanding how these updates fit into your workflow, the Inventory Ally team is here to support you.
These updates reflect continued improvements to make Inventory Ally more accurate, reliable, and easier to use in your hospital’s day-to-day inventory workflow. Some updates will be visible in the app, while others are behind the scenes to strengthen integrations, improve data accuracy and support more confident ordering.
Inventory Ally now supports PIMS Writeback for select ezyVet hospitals.
This update allows certain inventory updates made in Inventory Ally to be shared back with ezyVet, helping keep inventory information more closely aligned between both systems and reducing the need for duplicate updates. Supported writeback information includes:
PIMS Writeback is currently available to a limited group of ezyVet hospitals as part of a controlled beta rollout while we gather feedback and continue refining the experience.
Support for additional PIMS platforms, including Digitail and Vetspire, is planned for a future release.
Inventory Ally is working on a new integration for Midwest order history and shopping cart workflows.
For eligible hospitals, this integration can support importing Midwest order history into Inventory Ally and sending order items to a Midwest shopping cart.
This integration is currently in early access and is not yet available to general public.
You can now add aliases to inventory item names, making it easier for your team to use clear, familiar item names while still keeping the original item name available for reference.
Aliases can help shorten long supplier names, support clinic-specific naming conventions and make items easier to recognize during counting, ordering, and PIMS mapping.
GL Codes from the AAHA Chart of Accounts are now available within the Counts Report, making it easier to connect inventory activity with financial reporting and category analysis.
The Review Order page now displays items with no recommended order quantity in a separate section called Items with Sufficient Quantity.
This makes it easier to review items that Inventory Ally is not recommending for order, understand which products already have enough inventory on hand, and manually increase quantities when needed.
Inventory Ally will now redirect users to the login screen as soon as a session expires.
This helps prevent situations where a team member continues using Inventory Ally on a mobile device or shared workstation without realizing they are no longer signed in.
Inventory Ally may display a message letting users know that an order for a product cannot be processed through the selected supplier at that moment.
This helps make supplier-related ordering interruptions clearer when pricing or supplier confirmation is temporarily unavailable.
We resolved an issue that could occasionally prevent counting lists from loading at the beginning of the week.
This fix helps ensure weekly counting workflows remain available when your team needs them.
If you have questions or want help understanding how these updates fit into your workflow, your Inventory Ally team is here to support you.
